Who we are
Understanding Future is a science channel publishing short videos about space and physics. For any privacy question or request, email contact@understandingfuture.com.
What we collect
- Email updates: if you join our list, we store your email address, the date you joined and which sign-up form you used.
- Contact messages: if you contact us, we store your name, email, message and, for sponsorship enquiries, your company and optional budget range. Messages are also sent to our inbox so we can reply.
- Analytics (only if you accept cookies): Google Analytics records pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, how you arrived, and actions such as sign-ups, sent messages and clicks on partner offers. We use this to improve the site and to report aggregated results to sponsors.
- Security: to stop spam and abuse, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that form submissions come from a real person, and your IP address is used briefly to limit repeated requests.
Cookies
Analytics cookies are set only after you click Accept. If you decline, no analytics cookies are used. The security check may use technology essential for protecting our forms. You can change your choice anytime with Cookie settings.
Embedded videos and partner links
Our videos are embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode. When you play one, YouTube (Google) may collect information under its own privacy policy. Links to sponsors and partners take you to their websites, which have their own policies. Partner links may include tracking codes so partners can see that a visit came from us.
How we use and share information
We use your information only to send the updates you asked for, reply to your messages, keep the site secure and understand how the site is used. We do not sell your personal information. It is processed by the services that run our site: Google Firebase (hosting, database and analytics) and Cloudflare (security and email delivery).
How long we keep it
We keep your email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. We keep contact messages only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any partnership that follows. Analytics data is retained for a limited period set in our Google Analytics settings.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete your information, unsubscribe from emails, or withdraw consent at any time by emailing contact@understandingfuture.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Our forms are not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
